Another activity I was fortunate enough to enjoy was a Ben Folds concert at Deer Valley!!!
[again~ couldn't get my video to load, so I am using Youtube again, this is a better recording and angle anyway]
It was ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!!!I mean Ben Folds always puts on a good show, but this one was extra special. He performed with the Utah Symphony...and it was up in the mountains {which I have missed SO much}
It was BEAUTIFUL!
Holt dropped me off straight from our drive to meet up with Greg so we could head to the show. Poor little Greg was all broken~ I had to take a picture of it...
I have to say that it was probably his best concert I've been to thus far.
It was nice to not have to stand around forever...no opener...no wait between acts.
He talked a lot, and would explain how he'd come up with his songs. He's actually really funny. Poor guy had just flown in from London promoting his new album that day and you could tell that he was really tired, but he was still on top of his game. GREAT performer.
[new song "Picture Window" from the album he did with author Nick Hornby]
The only complaint I had was the super annoying people around us.
Oh wow...SUPER annoying!I guess that since we were in Park City everyone there is too classy for beer and everyone had wine. And who knew that wine drunks are a whole hell of a lot more annoying than beer drunks. It was annoying, and in the recordings I have you can hear just how annoying they really are. And by my overuse of the word~ you can tell I was ANNOYED!!!
One song Ben did talk about it's origins was "The Ascent of Stan" where he talks about a hippie who ends up working for a big corporate organization {the man}~ the example he gave for this company was Apple, kind of taking a dig on Apple. [side note: Greg and all his friends, who I was there with, all work at Apple]
So Greg is at work the next day...and guess who he gets to help?
BEN FOLDS!!!!
Yep, Greg got to meet him *shake his hand* and talk to HIM!!!!
Ben mentioned that he kind of jinxed himself with his dig on Apple, since he was in the store because his iPod wasn't working anymore.
I guess what you can learn from this...Don't bad talk Apple in public.
AWESOME NIGHT!!!!!

Don't bad talk Apple EVER! I'm jealous that you got to go to this, and I'm jealous that Greg got to meet him.
By the way, I miss you!
Yeah I was sad that you couldn't make it to this show.
