Moab!!!!

So....We went to Moab two weekends ago. It was my first time ever going and it was way fun!!! The landscape there was fantastic. We camped out in the desert which was fun (for the most part). On our way to the campsite we got "lost" but that was nice because I was able to see all of the different sites of Moab. Gorgeous!!!

Our second day there we went "wheeling" on a ride that was suppose to be just about an hour long....it ended up pretty much being all day long. But it was fun! There were about 20 of us in our party and even though we got side tracked and never really ended up at our desired destination we saw a lot of fun stuff on the way. The area in this picture of Holt was a little barn-like area in the middle of nowhere that was deserted. We found beetles and scorpions (which tried to sting Holt)and all sorts of interesting doodles. Holt had a good time playing with this tire like a pioneer.

This day...We met up with some of Holt's family that was down there. Heidi is living down there and we met her boyfriend Neil, which was fun. We went on a hike (and seriously I am so sadly out of shape...) and then met up with Heidi and Angie (Angie and Bear were down there too!) and then headed to Arches to check it out....Here is Holt and me at Balance Rock. Arches was completely breathtaking. It's so amazing the way this earth has created things like this!
We didn't hike up to the Delicate Arch...For one; I could barely handle a little hike, and two; at our hike there was a water hole in which you could cliff dive...of course Holt was the first in our group to take the dive and he messed up his ankles because the water was a little bit more shallow than he anticipated. So we viewed the arch from the overlook area. It was still amazing!!!

So I dub the trip a total success for my first time!!! The ride home was a bit rough because the canopy top we had on the land cruiser tore and we had to remove it, so the drive home was spent us baking while "cruising down the freeway in the hot, hot sun." It was good to come home when we did. I had about had it with camping in the heat. I am trying to be more "outdoorsy" for my Holty, but it is definitely a new way of vacationing for me. We are heading to Bear Lake this weekend and that will be a little more relaxing!!!

So adventurous! It looks like fun. Someday I'll have to go there. I'm guessing it's not a very kid friendly place. A hike with two kids sounds dreadful. I'm jealous, though. I love that area!

We need to get together again!
