Little Blessings

Holt and I had a wonderful experience/opportunity the other day to meet a wonderful family, and from this little encounter I have been thinking about how everything in life happens for a reason. Holt's father works in the same building as a nursing home where they were throwing out a hoister type device that helps to lift and transport people who cannot move themselves; Holt's father asked if he could have it rather than they just throw it out and they said yes. He then gave it to Holt because if any of you know my dear husband he is the master of selling things on e-bay or ksl.com. So Holt did some welding on it and posted it online. He didn't get any bites and he kept lowering the price when finally he was contacted by Lisa who has a son with spina bifida and she asked if we would be willing to donate it.
....So last night we went to take them this hoister type thing. It was a very touching experience. Lisa always says that people come into their lives for a reason; I really feel that we were so blessed to meet this family. The young man's name was Justin and he just actually was able to meet President Bush as a youth ambassador. This family has been through so much and yet each one of them had such a good and optimistic outlook on life. And the love this mother had for her son made me understand the unconditional love the my parents have for me, and even more importantly the unconditional love of my savior.
Everyone in this world has their trials and struggles; some worse than others, but nonetheless we have to go through them. I look at this wonderful family and how they do not allow this life long struggle to get them down or to feel like they cannot lead a "normal" life, they made adaptations and sacrifices and they are still happy and optimistic. It was a reminder to me that I need to work harder to realize that there is a reason for everything that happens in this life. We learn something from every misfortune or bump in the road; and what it is that makes these situations beneficial is what we can learn from them and grow.
Holt and I hope to keep in contact with this family and to hear how Justin (who is just twelve and cannot move his body from his waist down) is doing. It feels good to know that because of a chance of posting something on the internet we were able to be introduced to such an inspiration. The Lord works in wonderful ways to help remind us just what is important in life.
